Department of Methods of Teaching Chemistry

The Department of Methods of Teaching Chemistry was founded in July 1969 on the basis of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. Nasrullo Azizovich Azizov, PhD, was invited from the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR of Tajikistan to organize and head the department. The created department consisted of 5 working staff units. In addition to the head of the department, senior teachers E.F. Yanushevskaya, L.V. Boldyreva, assistants Abdullayeva O.A. and Khamidov Z.H. also worked.

Later, the department organized a laboratory, a teaching room, a room for storing chemical reagents and educational materials.

Experienced teachers worked at the department, such as Lyudmila Vasilyevna Boldyreva (in the disciplines of chemical technology, inorganic chemistry), Nelya Polikarpovna Luchnikova (Candidate of Chemical Sciences, History of Chemistry, Chemical ecology), Nina Aleksandrovna Kuznetsova (Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, specialty 13.00.01 — methods of teaching chemistry, disciplines of MPH, optimization and intensification of the educational process, special courses of MPH), associate professor Hamidov Zarif Hamidovich, specialty chemist-technologist (in the disciplines of general chemical technology, chemical ecology, occupational safety and life safety), Kabilov Narzullo Kabilovich, Candidate of Chemical Sciences (methods of teaching chemistry, special courses of MPH), Yegani Effat Abbasovna (in the disciplines of chemical technology, chemical ecology), Sultanbekov Gayrat Kobilovich (in the disciplines of technology, inorganic chemistry) and other teachers, who were effectively engaged in teaching activities.

The teachers of the department taught at the preparatory department of the university and actively participated in chemistry Olympiads, as well as taught at city and central pedagogical institutes. Later, teachers Luchnikova N.P., Yegani E.A., Kosimova S.I., Usmonova M.H., Kuznetsova N.A. and head of laboratories Nazirova L.F., senior laboratory assistants Tillokhonova M.M., Tatarova E.V., laboratory assistants Frolova N., Latipova A., Shcherbakova N.A. worked at the department. theoretical and practical progress was made in the training of teaching staff.

The department had educational laboratories and a library, which were equipped with didactic materials and technical means.

Teachers of the Department of Chemistry Teaching and its head Azizov Nasrullo Azizovich organized and conducted the Republican Chemistry Olympiad, conducted television lessons in the educational studio “Knowledge”, conducted classes for chemistry and biology teachers in city, regional and republican educational institutions.

The staff of the department performed these works competently, at a high methodological, pedagogical and scientific level.

Television chemistry lessons for more than 10 years (1980-1990) were very interesting and talented conducted by associate professor of the department Narzullo Kobilov and his students Kholikova Lutfiya, Boboeva Barfiniso and others.

The Department of Methods of Teaching Chemistry has a close relationship with higher educational institutions of St. Petersburg, Kazakhstan State University, State Pedagogical University in Tobolsk. The main direction of scientific and methodological research of the department is “Improving the composition and methods of training chemistry teachers”. During these years, the heads of the department were: Ph.D., Associate Professor Azizov N.A. (1969-1979); Ph.D., Associate Professor Luchnikova N.P. (1979-1989), Ph.D., Associate Professor N. K. Kabilov (1989-1994). From 1994 to November 2009, the department was headed by Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Rasulov S.A.

In accordance with the order of the Rector of the University No. 550-09 dated November 09, 2009, the Department of Methods of Teaching Chemistry and the Department of Applied Chemistry and Radionuclides in accordance with paragraph 100 of the “Charter on Educational Institutions of Higher Education of the Republic of Tajikistan” from 10/30/2009 (Protocol No. 03) were merged. The new department was renamed the Department of “Applied Chemistry”, and the head of the department was appointed Ph.D., Associate Professor A. D. Husainov.

In accordance with paragraph 118 of the “Charter of Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan”, paragraph 53 of the “Charter of the National University of Tajikistan” and in order to implement the resolution of the Academic Council of the National University of Tajikistan, by the Order of the Rector of the Tajik National University dated 14.09.2012 No. 269-09, the Department of “Methods of Teaching Chemistry” was restored, and its head was appointed a PhD, Associate Professor Kholikova L. R. The Department of Methods of Teaching Chemistry consisted of 4 candidates of Sciences, associate professors, 2 assistants, 1 head of laboratories, 2 laboratory assistants.

In 2016, by Order of the Rector of the Tajik National University dated 28.08.2016 No. 206-6, PhD, Associate Professor M. Z. Kurbonova was appointed head of the Department of Methods of Teaching Chemistry.

Currently, the Department of Methods of Teaching Chemistry employs: Head of the Department, PhD, Associate Professor Kurbonova M.Z., associate professors: Kholikova L. R., Rasulov S. A., Akbarova M. M., assistants: Karimov R.K., Erov M.E., Head of laboratories Abdurasulova R.T., laboratory assistants Dzhumaeva M.B., Nazarova M.T., Aloviddinova S.A. and Khalilova M. Teachers of the department for bachelors, specialists and masters (chemical and biological faculties) conduct classes in the following disciplines: methods of teaching chemistry, optimization and intensification of the educational process, methods of solving problems, mathematical methods in chemistry, methodology and history of chemistry, chemical ecology, physico-chemical methods in biotechnology, etc.

Teachers of the department have published more than 70 textbooks and teaching aids for 50 years.

Graduates of the department work as teachers in the country and abroad. Most of them have badges “Excellent Student of Education of the Republic of Tajikistan” and “Honored Worker”.

Associate Professor Rasulov S.A. is one of the leading methodologists in the republic, who has made a significant and valuable contribution to the development of the program of admission of applicants at the National Testing Center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. In 2007, Associate Professor M.Z. Kurbonova was awarded the Ismoil Somoni Prize for young scientists in the field of science and technology.

The teachers of the department, associate professors Rasulov S.A., Kholikova L.R. and others, taught at the preparatory department of the university, at advanced training courses for university teachers and teachers of secondary schools, and also took an active part in city and republican Olympiads of schools and lyceums. Rasulov S.A. contributed to the organization and conduct of entrance examinations, as well as in regional and republican Olympiads of universities of the Republic of Tajikistan. Every year Rasulov S.A. prepares more than 12 test options for applicants.

The head of the Department, M.Z. Kurbonova, is the scientific Secretary of the Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Several scientific and methodological seminars and republican scientific and practical conferences were held on the basis of the department. In 2009, a republican conference was organized on the topic: “Modern problems of teaching chemistry in higher and secondary schools” and the 2019 republican scientific and practical conference (with international participation) on the topic “The use of innovative technologies in the teaching of natural sciences in secondary schools and higher educational institutions”, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the periodic table of chemical elements by D.I. Mendeleev.

Secondary school No. 55 in Dushanbe has a branch and a methodical office of the Department of Methods of Teaching Chemistry, where teachers implement the results of their scientific and methodological work. Students of the specialty 31050102 “Chemist. Teacher” are held in all secondary schools of Dushanbe, near and far regions of the country.

The department conducts research in the direction of “Theoretical and methodological foundations of modernization and development of different levels of knowledge in natural science (in educational institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan)”.

The research work of the department is carried out in accordance with the research work of the Research Institute of Hydropower and Ecology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, in cooperation with the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan named after V.I. Nikitin and the Research Institute at TNU, as well as with the Institute of Education, the Academy of Education of Tajikistan, the Tajik State Medical University.
